"Let it not be said that we did nothing." - Ron Paul
This isn't another one of my Ron Paul posts, my goal here isn't to indoctrinate you here. My goal today is to get people to be active. Interestingly enough Ron Paul makes my point for me, in a way. He says this:
“Ideas are very important to the shaping of society. In fact, they are more powerful than bombings or armies or guns. And this is because ideas are capable of spreading without limit. They are behind all the choices we make. They can transform the world in a way that governments and armies cannot. Fighting for liberty with ideas makes more sense to me than fighting with guns or politics or political power. With ideas, we can make real change that lasts.”
What I tend to see in the conservative Christian movement is a sterile and mundane existence. We see luke warm Christians doing average things. What we don't realize is that faith is a powerful force. We can change the world if we just choose to do it. I have been watching as Ron Paul becomes an increasing threat to the Republican party. And the actions they are taking out against him just shows how powerful his message is. He brings in the most support from independent voters, the military, and the grass roots movement. The support he gets is from passionate believers in liberty and freedom, an idea that terrifies the republican machine.
You would think that it would be easy to scare people into disbelieving this, but instead this movement has pushed past the republicans and has seen victory in many states. Because it is a message that this country has been thirsting to hear for the past hundred sum years. The media wants us to think he is unelectable, they say this because they know that if he is elected they would have no hold over him and that he would make the changes that we so desperately need.
When our country went through the separation from England only about 10% of the populations of the colonies took action. But when this passionate force came together to fight for liberty we saw an incredible change happen on this land. They fought because they knew that what they were fighting for was something that must be protected. When we look at a comparison of what they put up with and what we put up with now, we see that they would never have settled for the horrific policies our politicians have put in place. The incredible thing is that our forefathers put their lives on the line to fight for justice and the rights they believed all of us should have. And yet we are not so willing to fight to protect these things so many have died for.
In the early 1900s we saw an incredible (but maybe not so good) change in Russia when the Bolsheviks came to power. The Bolshevik group started as a small minority of workers that were tired of the Tsar rule in Russia. They promoted an idea and spread this idea throughout Russia. This simple idea of over throwing the Tsar state in Russia became an increasingly popular idea and lead to the October revolution and then finally the Russian Revolution of 1917. A simple idea lead to the Bolshevik's over throwing their current form of government and creating the communist party in Russia. It is incredible how much one idea can shape a nation.
And one idea is all it takes to change the hearts and minds of America. If only we fought for what we believe in rather than fight against ourselves and our allies. We must work to promote the ideas of true civil liberty, freedom, justice, and most importantly Christianity. If we don't fight than we can never win. Please find areas in your life where God has given you a passion and a cause...fight to help change this world.
