I have totally failed in my commitment to write about Ron Paul Vs - insert candidate- (<my nick name for that sequence of posts). And I promise I'll get to that. But today I am going to focus on many misconceptions about Ron Paul. I'll go through several areas that many people either don't understand or just don't agree with....so here goes.
1. Abortion
This is by far the most contentious part of his position. Here is what he believes....Life begins at conception and abortion is murder. But currently at this point in our government we see U.S. citizens being assassinated (in the instance of Anwar al-Awlaki) and given the death penalty without due process, and we see unlawful international wars being fought that cost civilian lives. These instances are just examples of areas where our government has decided they will define life by choosing who is important and who isn't. This is the government we are so happy to give the ability to define life to. But more importantly we need to realize that it is far more practical to enforce this at the state level. When we give this ability to the federal government we give it to liberal politicians that don't agree with our biblical views, but when we allow the states to enforce this we give it to the hands of the voters. Doesn't it make sense that it is easier for us to make abortion illegal when we are the ones voting for it? I think it does. California (viewed as one of the most liberal states) actually voted against homosexual marriage in Prop. 8. We underestimate the power of votes.
2. Homosexuality
When it comes to his stance on Homosexuality I agree to an extent (This is the one area where I do disagree). Ron Paul's personal beliefs say that homosexuality is a far more complex issue than yes or no. I don't agree with this point. But I do agree with his political position that the Federal government should not fight this. Homosexuality is a sin....thus the church government should be the one fighting the battle on gay marriage, not the civil government. This is a spiritual fight, we as Christians must fight this, if we don't we lose our ability to share the gospel.
This also brings in the issue of whether all sin is a crime or not. What do you think? I'll give you my opinion further on.

3. Prostitution and drugs
When it comes to prostitution and drugs I fully agree with him. Show me one place where the bible says both of those things should be illegal. Prostitution and a foolish use of drugs are sins and the bible does say that. But it isn't the drugs and sex that cause the problems, it is the use or in other words the lack of physical restrains in some people that causes these problems. This is another spiritual issue. I have a question though. What is the difference in alcohol being legal and drugs being legal? Where is the defining line? Alcohol causes problems too. In fact probably statistically more than drugs do.
4. States rights
When it comes to the issue that he wants the states to be more involved, it makes sense. Ron Paul is a federalist, which means he wants the states to have more power than the federal government (which is a constitutional view). The Federal government should be accountable to the states. Again another practical political position.
Another misunderstanding in general is that the constitution is there to tell the government what it can't do rather than what it CAN do. There is a reason why our forefathers wrote the constitution the way they did. I would encourage you to read all of the constitution, it opens our eyes to how liberty works and how our government should work. Which really puts Ron Paul's views into perspective.

5. Foreign Policy
Please take a 15 minutes of your time to watch this video.
An interesting thing to not is that Ron Paul has gained more support from our military branches than all the other candidates combined.
Ron Paul's foreign policy is right on in my opinion. The war is a huge deal to most of the people I talk to. I strongly disagree with the U.S. fighting this "war" (I say that because it isn't truly a war, it is the U.S. being interventionists).
Here are mine and Ron Paul's reasons for this kind of foreign policy.....1.) It's the U.S. enforcing an interventionist policy. 2.) It was provoked and preventable. (as you can see in the video) 3.) We need to use the golden rule when defining our foreign policy. And this "War" does not uphold that principle. 4.) It costs our country millions that should be going to help our economy. 5.) It promotes the idea that we need to fix other peoples problems rather than fixing our own. 6.) And just an added thing....it is harming our mission work over seas. Many more churches were closed down after the U.S. intervened than before. There are many more problems with this "war" and the interventionist policies our government promotes and I urge you to read up on these problems and become critics of our government.

6, Consistency
I don't find in anyway that Ron Paul is pandering in his answers to get the public's votes. Unlike many candidates, he knows what he believes and is not afraid to say it. And as an ending I would ask you all to think about this - All crime is sin, but not all sin is a crime - so how does the bible and the government work into that saying? How do you define crime? I am not saying that that saying is true right now....but it is something to think about when we think of the governments enforcement of biblical laws.
Remember! Because thinkers and critics. This is the only way we can save this country. Also.....lets not compromise our votes.
